Your Chance to Feel Like a Pro

Many of us have dreamed of becoming professional hockey players when we were kids. Hockey Helps the Homeless tournaments are designed to let you realize that dream by treating you like a pro for a day. Our men's tournaments have seen over a hundred former NHL players participate since our beginnings back in 1996. Greats like Mike Gartner, Laurie Boschman, Vincent Damphousse, Theo Fleury and Kirk McLean to name a few have been a part of this unique and growing event across the country. And now, thanks to a new agreement with the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), women from across the GTA will be able to play alongside some of the best women hockey players in the world - Lori Dupuis, Cherie Piper, Gillian Apps and many more! No details will be spared in making this an absolutely unforgettable experience:

  • We dress you like a pro in your very own personalized jersey
  • Each player plays a minimum of three games alongside CWHL Alumni
  • Participants will get to dress in the same room as CWHL Alumni – truly a once in a lifetime experience to get a behind the scenes look at professional women hockey players
  • The day will be complete with a hearty lunch between games along with beverages in the dressing room and on the bench
  • Every room is stocked with first aid supplies, tape, pucks and water bottles
  • The event includes a fabulous silent auction with valuable prizes and one-of-a-kind memorabilia
  • There's even some terrific incentives to encourage participants to set up a personal fundraising page and help us achieve our goal
  • And, we finish off with a formal reception that includes a fabulous dinner as participants are treated to some words of encouragement featuring notable guest speaker
* Must be 19+ to play in the tournament *

Thanks to our new partnership with the CWHL in helping us share this Fantasy Tournament with female hockey players across the GTA!

Why We Play

Today, it is estimated that there are between 150,000 and 300,000 homeless people in Canada, with children and young families making up the fastest growing segment of the homeless population -- despite the fact that Canada ranks as one of the top 20 wealthiest nations in the world.

If you want to learn more about the homeless situation in your community, we encourage you to check out the websites of our Outreach Partners or make arrangements to visit and volunteer at a local homeless shelter.
