Wally Weir




Wally Weir's professional hockey career began in 1976 as a member of the WHA's Quebec Nordiques. Weir, known for his rugged play, provided excellent defensive coverage in the Nordiques' zone. In 1979-80, he and the Nordiques were one of four WHA clubs that were absorbed into the NHL following the demise of the WHA. Weir played another five seasons with the Nords in the NHL before moving on to the Hartford Whalers in the 1984-85 season. Later that year he was dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins where he appeared in 14 games.

Weir's best NHL offensive season came in 1982-83 when he had 16 points on five goals and eleven assists in 58 games.

Weir's final NHL totals included 320 games played, 21 goals, 45 assists, and 66 points. In the WHA, Weir suited up for 150 contests, scoring five goals and 24 assists for 29 points.
