Moe Lemay

Left-winger Moe Lemay was a talented goal scorer with a gritty side to his game. He played over 300 games on four different clubs in the 1980s and hit the 20-goal mark once.

Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Lemay was a scoring star for three seasons with the OHL's Ottawa 67's. He was taken 105th overall by the Vancouver Canucks at the 1981 Entry Draft and then returned for one more year of junior. That last season proved to be rewarding as Lemay led the OHL with 68 goals, was named to the league's first all-star team, and helped Canada win its first gold medal at the World Junior Championships.

The young forward split the 1982-83 season between the Canucks and the AHL's Fredericton Express. In 1983-84, he scored 30 points in 56 games then scored a career high 21 times the next season. Lemay played well in 1985-86, but his year was cut short by injuries. By the next season, he was considered expendable and was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. Lemay was a part-time player before joining Boston and Winnipeg. His tenure with those last two clubs was cut short by injuries and he opted to retire in 1989.
