Steve Clippingdale



After a year with the University of Wisconsin left winger Steve Clippingdale, born in Vancouver, British Columbia on April 29th, 1958, went on to play two seasons with the New Westminster Bruins before the Los Angles Kings made him their first draft pick in 1976.

Clippingdale turned pro in 1976-77 and played the majority of his season with the Fort Worth Texans but also spent sixteen games at the NHL level. With the Kings Clippingdale managed a goal and 2 assists.

The next two seasons were spent in the minors with Clippingdale chipping in 33 and 27 goals respectively. On June 11th, 1979 the Kings traded Clippingdale to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Mike Marson.

Clippingdale returned to the NHL with the Capitals playing three games without registering a point during the 1979-80 season. The rest of the year was spent in the American Hockey League with the Hershey Bears and Clippingdale retired at season's end.
