Hockey For the Homeless Board of Directors
Gary Scullion
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Gary is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and has spent the last 22 years working within the consumer packaged goods industry with Coca-Cola Bottling, Frito-Lay and Cadbury Adams.
Gary and his family recently moved back to Toronto from Boston, Massachusetts where he was Region Vice-President responsible for leading the Northeastern Region for Frito-Lay USA. Currently, Gary is Senior Vice-President and General Manager for Cadbury Canada, located in Toronto.
Gary, his wife Joanne and two children, Brianna and Matthew live in Unionville, Ontario.
Gary is co-founder and Executive Director of Hockey for the Homeless and was responsible for the organization's expansion into the Quebec market.
John Patrick Kelly
Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, John earned his Honours degree in Business from Southwest Missouri State University and has spent the past 25 years working in the packaged goods industry. For the last 11 years, he has worked with Pepsi-QTG, where he is currently National Sales Manager of Business Development.
John and his wife Alison reside in Pickering, Ontario and have three children: Michael, Sarah and Jacob. In addition to his involvement with Hockey for the Homeless, John volunteers his time with the Pickering Hockey Association, the PepsiCo Foundation and the LAF Foundation.
John is a co-founder and serves as Chairman of the Board for Hockey for the Homeless.
John Rebry
Born in Tillsonburg, Ontario, John was raised on a tobacco farm in southern Ontario before moving to London, Ontario where he Graduated from the University of Western Ontario. After graduation he moved to Toronto to article to become a Charted Accountant.
John now lives in Paris, Ontario with his wife and three kids and commutes to Toronto where he works as the CFO for Gay Lea Foods Co-Operative Limited.
John joined Hockey for the Homeless in 2006 as Director of Finance and Treasurer.
Steve Kearley
Stephen started his insurance career in 1984 when he joined Bruce Benson Insurance Brokers as a producer. In 1991, Steve purchased the brokerage firm from Bruce Benson.
Since then, Steve has been focused on expanding the Benson-Kearley brand, his abilities as an executive and his community involvement initiatives. He is a founding member of Hockey for the Homeless and currently serves on the Executive Committee as Director of NHL Relations.
Stephen currently resides in Newmarket with his wife Christine and four children, sons Joshua, Cameron, Jake and daughter Courtney. Stephen is an Avid Golfer and continues to enjoy playing hockey. Steve is also passionate about travel and has a personal goal to travel to 100 countries in his lifetime.
Tim Huff
Born and raised in Toronto, Tim has traveled extensively throughout Canada and the United States and into Europe, researching, networking, training and encouraging others around proactive measures and compassionate responses to domestic poverty and homelessness.
Since 1987 Tim has worked fulltime among the poor and marginalized through the organization Youth Unlimited (Toronto YFC).
Tim has written and illustrated a children's book (and teaching guide) regarding homelessness called The Cardboard Shack Beneath The Bridge, that was released in book stores throughout North America in April 2007 - published by Castle Quay Books/Augsburg and Fortress, foreword by the Honourable Hilary M. Weston. His second book, for adults and teens, called Bent Hope (also published by Castle Quay Books) - is an expose of more than 20 years of stories from the street and the relevant implications of Christian faith and social justice to them.
Tim, married to Diane since 1987, is the father of two children - Sarah Jane (14) and Jake (10).
Hockey for the Homeless has hired but one employee since its inception in 1996 - Director of Operations Sean Berry.
Sean Berry
Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Sean worked in the industrial automation industry for twelve years before launching his own business in the field of corporate communications in the summer of 2000. In April of 2008 he was hired to be the first Director of Operations at Hockey for the Homeless/Hockey pour les sans-abri.
Sean lives in west end Montreal with his wife Susan Doherty. Prior to accepting the position of Director of Operations, was a member of the Montreal organizing committee for four years.
Sean served as concept and project lead for the organization's appearance on CBC's Hockey Day in Canada in January of 2007 and was responsible for the organization's expansion into Calgary, Ottawa and Vancouver.
